Have you got a question for us?
You may find the answer below...
Q. Is accommodation included in the price of the tour?
A. No. Accommodation is not included in the price of the tour, but is guaranteed for you whilst on tour. You pay on arrival at the hostels which is on average about £12.00 per person per night.
Q. What days of the week do your tours leave?
A. Our 'Jump-on Jump-off' tour departs everyday of the week in summer, and on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays in winter. During Summer the '3 day Isle of Skye' tour departs every Friday, the '5 day Skye and Loch Ness' tour departs every Tuesday. The '7 day Grand tour of Scotland' departs every Sunday from April to October.
Q. What is the difference between the Jump-on Jump-off tour and the other tours?
A. Our Jump-on Jump-off tour has the benefit of allowing you the flexibility to explore Scotland independently by leaving and re-joining the tour at different times and locations. Whereas our set tours allow us to guide you through more of Scotland with the benefit of having the same group and guide everyday.
Q. How does the Jump-on Jump-off tour work?
A. Guests can jump-on and off at any of the arrival/departure points detailed in the itinerary. the service operates 7 days a week. A guest can plan and book all of their jump-on's and off's with the MacBackpackers staff before departure, thus guaranteeing all of their accommodation, their spaces on the tour itself and their return to Edinburgh on the date required.
Q. What time do the tours depart and return?
A. During the winter season (November - March) - our tours depart Sunday, Wednesday and Friday at 8.00am and return between 5.00pm and 6.00pm. During the summer season (April - October) - our tours depart daily at 9.00am and return between 6.00pm and 7.00pm.

Q. Where do the tours leave from?
A. All tours depart from our High Street Hostel and Castle Rock Hostel in Edinburgh.
Q. Do you organise accommodation in Edinburgh?
A. Accommodation can be organised through us separately but is not guaranteed unless you are on tour - ie. you will need to book your accommodation for the nights before and after your tour. You can pre-book hostel accommodation required in Edinburgh prior to your tour departure via our online booking form. You can also book Edinburgh accommodation required after your tour, on arrival at the hostel prior to departing on your tour, or whilst on tour.
Q. What sort of accommodation do you offer in your hostels?
A. All of our hostels provide dormitory accommodation separated between males and females room, sharing with between 8-16 people. Double/twin rooms are available at our Pitlochry, Skye and Fort William hostels at £28-36 per room.
Q. What about food?
A. The price of the tour doesn't include food. However we make supermarket stops every day, and each of the hostels have well equipped kitchens for the guests to use.
Q. How long do we spend off the bus?
A. As long as possible - for example, if you drove from Edinburgh directly to Inverness - it would take about three hours - we do it in ten hours, so at the very least, half the day is spent off the bus, looking at, and being told cool stories about old stuff, and going on walks, etc.
Q. What are the people on the bus like?
A. We design our tours for 17 to 35 year olds. In the main, people are travelling on their own. At the most there are only ever 22 people on the bus and we do our best to ensure that everyone enjoys the tour.
