Part 2: Your Values Are Essential
Values tell you who you are and what is important to you. For example when you get annoyed or angry about an event or situation it is because your values have been "wronged"...

 

There is a good chance that, if the goals you set don't fit with your values, then you won't achieve them.

So how do you work out what your values are?

Firstly decide on the particular area of your life that you would like to set a goal for. Think about what has annoyed you in this area in the past and when you have felt the most motivated.

For example what annoys you in a your job? And when do you feel really motivated? What is important to you about a place of work?

Then place them in a hierarchy from most to least important. If the goal you have set does not fit with these values then there is a good chance you won't achieve it.

 

If this is the case, don't give up. Just go back and change the goal so it does fit.
