The Kudu FM Team arrived at the United Sports Grounds just after 07:00 the morning as the starting time was 08:00 for the Pick 'n Pay Cycle Classic 20km ride (which had +/- 1200 cyclists and +/- 3000 at the event itself)! Although Taz was missing in action for a while and Ian and Danny were worried he didn't make it to the event. Moving to the starting point Taz was found with his "pimped" bicycle. Now this is dedication for you, Taz had a tyre dilemma and had to replace his mountain bike's front wheel with his daughter's BMX wheel, which left him with a back to front Penny-farthing from the 18th century.
Danny had the red hot Ferrari and trained hard but that didn't help her all to much as Ian sped off from the start and went non-stop till the end not even stopping at the 10 km water point! Ian passed the finish line first after giving his all, a chain slipping off at the last corner and beating the sun that was seriously starting to get to each and every rider. Danny came in second for the team, after battling with some of the uphills and a burning chest and Taz clocked in third with his innovative bicycle with a downhill action, no breaks and no water! But he had a good rest at the water point and a mouthful of bar ones to keep that energy flowing! Ian and Danny thought that Taz would never finish, but he did and in good time as well.
After the race the whole team came together under the big tent and cooled down with some good old beer and food and had a good laugh. Afterwards everyone just went to go "die" at home and on Monday everyone was doing great with a little bit of a sore neck, but that was about it. Quite good, don't you think?
It was loads of fun and we will sure do it again!

17 – 25 October 2008-08-01
Desert Wolves Motorcycle Club, was established in 2003 with five members and now boasts with a 30-strong component, comprised of both male and female riders, young and old riders from all walks of life.
As part of their social responsibility initiative they are embarking on a charitable drive to raise funds for the under privileged in our society. The main objective of the Poer-Poer Run scheduled 17 – 25 October 2008 is to raise some N$ 250 000 for the Desert Wolves Charity Fund. These funds will be allocated to organisations such as old age homes, children’s home’s and the Liver Transplant initiative in Namibia.
The aim of the fund raiser is to travel from Windhoek to Cape Town and back on scooters – Yamaha Pasola 100CC Scooters. By taking on this task they are hoping to invoke not only the corporate industries but also the nation to donate towards this worthy cause.
Various sponsorship opportunities are available for corporate, businesses and individuals.
We at Kudu FM are obliged to keep you updated on their journey towards Cape Town and their ultimate goal of N$ 250 000.
